A Day Out with Thomas

The girls got to see Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt Saturday at the train station. We had our 20 minute ride on Thomas down past Snoqualmie Falls and back and they had a lot of fun. Bekah decided she wanted to wear her train engineer costume and Kimberly didn't want to, so she picked out her cow pants to wear instead.

Easter!

With the weather a bit cold, wet, and windy, the Easter Bunny made an appearance inside today.. some photos of last weekend's trip to watch Nathaniel play lacrosse as well as from this morning are in the 2010 slideshow.

Hope you weren't holding your breath!

The LONG awaited photos from Aunt Vikki's trip to visit... Slideshow (June 2009)

July through September are on the "Big Trees Tour" blog.

I'm trying to track down some later 2009 photos, but I took them on our old digital camera, so I'll have to look on our other computer.

Early 2010 photos are around, however... Slideshow (Jan/Feb 2010)

Aunt Vikki & Uncle Jimmy's Visit

Aunt Vikki & Uncle Jimmy came to visit this weekend - here's a sample of some of the photos that Aunt Vikki took yesterday and today. Can you guess if this is Kimberly or Rebekah?

Can you believe it's already June?

Summer is quickly approaching, which means in a few short months the girls will be turning 3 years old! I can't believe it was a month ago I posted the development updates.. letters are still going strong, they're up to over 16 now with the favorite of the moment being "W"! With shapes they have added squares to the ones they can recognize and pronounce. One of their favorite activities is to run in circles in the backyard while telling you repeatedly as they do it. "Run in circles, run in circles, run in circles..." Kimberly is even bending her elbows when she runs now, it's pretty cute because her fists are up at her chest. One of my favorites that I forgot to mention before is if Kimberly wants you to come with her, she'll keep yelling "Mon" at you until you follow - like "c'mon!" without the "c".

Some other cute pronunciations include Bekah saying "jes" for yes, Kimberly saying "follow" and Bekah saying "sour" for flower, the letter Q is "coo", the letter R is "awe", and they both LOVE Costco ("cah-coh") and ask to go there often.

Not a whole lot going on at the moment, we're all in our routines. I'm working on getting the memory card in our camera cleared - it's full and the button to delete is not working! Arg.

May Update

I still haven't gotten Easter photos posted, sorry. I wanted to do a few updates on the girls' development, though.

They are pretty much daytime potty trained. They have been pre-training for a little while and in the last week or so made the big jump so now they're only wearing diapers at nap and bedtime and doing really well about not having accidents. They even poop on there! Exciting times...

They actually recognize letters already.. we're a little surprised, but are happy they are so excited about it. They both LOVE the letter B, but also know H, I, K, L, O, P, and Y. Bekah is hit and miss on numbers to 10, Kimberly loves to count "one, two, five". (She used to say three, but apparently has found "five" is more fun to say). They're very excited about colors and shapes right now, so when they used to be able to point out what an object was (like an orange), now they just say the shape that it is (circle!!). Circles and triangles are very popular around here.

They're also talking a lot more now and much clearer. We can usually figure out what they mean with context, so that's good. They used to get really excited when we could correctly repeat back to them what they were saying to us, but now they expect it.

Kimberly still has an obsession with airplanes and Bekah loves to watch for them as well. They'll happily tell you that they go "to the airport" if you ask them where the airplanes are going. They love watching Wall-E with big sister Kelsi, and go through rotating phases of enjoying Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, and Elmo. Kimberly loves to pretend everything is a baby. Even if it's not small. They are avid climbers and getting more confidence to jump off of more things rather than just while standing on the ground already. Anything to do with their little kitchen is still fun for them. They have a bunch of play plates, cups, pots, pans, and food that they make "dinner" with, no matter what time of day. Bekah runs really fast, but luckily only shows it off when we're running laps around the track while Kelsi is playing soccer on the field. Their morning routine includes helping Daddy wash the dishes, they still love to help with that one.

Okay... that's enough for now. Hopefully I'll be able to post new photos soon.

Spring is FINALLY here!

We've been doing all sorts of things waiting for Spring to finally arrive... sit in the backyard watching for airplanes, taking baths and styling our hair, washing a LOT of dishes, talking on our cell phones, and then today we could finally hang out in the backyard...

From snow to sand...

Now that we're in California for the holidays, we've got the beach instead of snow! Kelsi, Kimberly, and Rebekah walking towards the surf.

SNOW!!

Lots of snow has come down today.. giving me a minute at home to post photos! Bekah's in the pink jacket, Kimberly in the yellow, and if you can't figure out who Kelsi is, you really shouldn't be reading my blog. hee hee hee...
Below, the non-snow photos: brushing their teeth, Bekah with a fruit snack soul patch/goatee, and Kimberly popping out of a box.

Trick-or-Treat!

We made our first attempt at Trick-or-Treating at my office today... let's just say the chocolate melted with Kimberly's death grip on it she was so shy with my co-workers. Kimberly's the giraffe and Bekah's the elephant. We'll see how tonight goes...

Meema & Aunt Vikki went to Iceland...

... and brought us warm new hats! The girls picked which color they wanted, no fighting whatsoever (yet). Kimberly in blue and Bekah in red. These will be great for cold mornings walking Kelsi to school!

Crickets!

This shows our routine of reading in bed before naps and bedtime. They love Daddy reading to them! You can also see how they got to hold their first cricket in the backyard. (They switched outfits in the two pictures, so in bed Kimberly is wearing the brown shirt, while holding the cricket, it's Bekah in brown.)

2nd Birthday Pictures!

For the first time ever they fell asleep in their high chairs. This was on their birthday after nap time since they didn't nap well. Over Labor Day weekend we got their toddler beds setup and they are out of their cribs. They're doing well at night sleeping, but naps are still shorter than they need. Hence, high chair napping... They enjoyed their birthday cupcakes (and cards)! I'm also sneaking in a photo of all three girls that we took this week.

Riding the ferry boats!

Bekah is in the pink dress, Kimberly is in the striped dress. On the ferry over Labor Day weekend to get to Aunt Clare's wedding!

2-year Check-up

Kimberly is now 26.9 pounds and 34.6 inches tall. In weight she's closer to 50th percentile, but in height she's just under 75th. Rebekah is our bruiser at 28 pounds and 35 inches - solidly over 75th percentile in both. (If they stay around the 75th line - which Kelsi is at as well - they're projected to be 5'-6"). They're both happy, healthy, and most definitely TWO!

Daddy moved them into toddler beds this week, and they've been doing well so far. Definitely not happy the first few nights, but it dropped off quickly. I think they're happy to be able to snuggle with each other. More news and photos soon...

Thanks Aunt Vikki!

Bekah's on the left in the pink and Kimberly is on the right in the blue. (That's Aunt Vikki in the middle).
